How does the Veltheim Method compare to Manual Lymph Drainage?

When a practitioner first learns the Veltheim Method of Lymph Drainage, it looks quite similar to a regular massage as clients are skin to skin lying face up. Though unlike massage only the front of the body is used without considering the limbs. The goal is to move fluid from different parts of the body towards the spleen. Treatment generally focuses on the abdomen, groin area, breast area as well as face and neck where major lymph nodes are found. Lately, I've been incorporating the head as well.

Once the practitioner has the techniques learned she can practice the method completely off the body, by distance or over clothing, though many clients prefer contact as it connects them with their bodies and mental processes. Because the Veltheim Method is still part of the Body Talk family, practitioners use knowledge from the other modules especially 4 (7) to help their clients physically feel emotions leaving. For people who are skeptical about the effectiveness of Body Talk or energetic medicine in general this method clearly demonstrates observable effects in real time.

Manual Lymph Drainage involves light sweeping motions towards the heart.  Overall a relaxing treatment. It's like "petting" a person's entire body front and back. If someone has lymphoma this method is contra-indicated, where as one could still use the VM off the body. Because it is a manual therapy, there's no way for clients to connect and release issues stored in their tissues. In the Velthiem Method of Lymphatic Drainage, the practitioner sweeps the lymph towards the spleen for processing. In western physiology, the spleen cleans both the lymph and blood, therefore, it makes sense that emotions and
memories broken up by the massage would be processed by the same place that
recycles blood cells and lymph. In manual lymph drainage lymph is swept to the heart, which  would just recirculate the broken bits rather than process them properly.
