Marketing Muses

I've done a lot of thinking in the past few months and have made a concerted effort to listen to my inner voice, which I am notoriously good at ignoring :) There always seems to be something you should be doing, to promote a business website, twitter, facebook, youtube, webinars, blogs, newsletters, ebooks and the lists go on and on. Every time I think about these things I forget to just be. Most people say pick a couple things that work well for you and discard the rest, but how do you choose the best ones?

From a scientist view, I'd say go with the data, but on the other hand I like to change things up. Until the dust settles, I've figured out a few things.

1. I like doing home visits with Body Talk. I love the social aspects of healing. After the treatment, we can sit and comfortably chat about the session(s) over tea or booze rather than worry about kicking them out, because someone else needs to use the room.

2. With this type of practice in mind I have to work a bit harder at marketing my skills locally and build a reliable referral system. I think I need to draw a chart lol. The clinic was great at helping me find new clients, but given the higher level of intimacy I prefer, for people to continue working with me they need to be comfortable. The only way to do that is to figure out what they really need from me. I would say in person actions would be preferred, but my lectures at Planet Organic haven't netted me many people, though I usually manage to collect names.

3. While I don't miss having to show up at a clinic I miss interacting with other healers. I LOVE learning about them, their modalities and having them practice on me! I'd like to start a healing collective where healers in different cities meet up regularly. We have available space in Calgary and Lethbridge already. Just need to figure out the logistics of how to make this sustainable. Start at the beginning I guess. Figure out what we'll need money for then have ideas for income generation.

4. I'm not really sure what the point of a website is anymore. Yes, I know everyone expects you to have one, but I need to do something with mine. I may just resort to having a blog for now, because it's the only thing people really seem interested in. I feel like I'm paying a lot of money for nothing, though I have gotten compliments on my site I haven't netted too many clients with it. I was thinking about uploading a custom webpage on facebook, because that's where I like to spend my time.

5. As far as ebooks go, I would like to collect some of my old newsletter stuff to assemble into an ebook. I have a lot of thoughts about working with children from my work at RMHC. I have a bigger project in mind if I can get the collective going.

6. I strongly believe in the power of short videos. I've seen some that look like ppt slides, but are apparently very effective, because they are simple and emphasize the spoken monologue for the viewer.

7. Membership sites make a lot of sense to me, especially when you factor in the exclusiveness of it. People always value things more if they paid for it.

8. I'll definitely need some joint venture partners for Lotions and Potions. No time like the present to start looking.
