Fighting towards Enlightenment

The path to enlightenment requires not only a strong mind, but a strong body as well. At some point I had weakened both my mind and body to a place where if I moved my body in any sort of strenuous way I would have an emotional break down. So, I focused on developing a strong mind by practicing non attachment and objectivity for myself, my clients and hardest of all my family. My journey started with a move to Edmonton, where you have ample time to be alone with your thoughts.

Does Body Talk Work?

I was looking at my analytics and under the search terms someone looked up Body Talk doesn't work. When I first came across this last year with some friends, I had to gather more information, because as far as I knew Body Talk was a life changing event for me and for most of my clients. One woman, Cathy, I treated said something profound to me. "It's not just the modality, it's the practitioner as well." You can find her testimonialhere. It makes sense on so many different levels.

Revealing Shadows

From Rob Brezney and his horoscope for Libra: The Argentinian writer Antonio Porchia said there were two kinds of shadows: "some hide, others reveal." In recent weeks, you've been in constant contact with the shadows that hide. But beginning any moment now, you'll be wandering away from those rather frustrating enigmas and entering into a dynamic relationship with more evocative mysteries: the shadows that reveal. Be alert for the shift so you won't get caught assuming that the new shadows are just like the old ones.

Self healing Book(let)

I've been playing with the idea of releasing a self help booklet in the same spirit as my150ish Wedding Tips, something short, sweet and easy to follow. My dad has a lot of books from India that are like that, just short things to read. Even though they are short, they pack a lot of meaning. It's not uncommon for me to have to either take a break to think about it (or in some cases a nap, because my brain exploded) or reread entire sections to make sure I received the gist of what the book wanted to say.

Therapy at the Hair Salon

After a busy few days I decided to get my hair cut and colored since I had a groupon anyway. I've been to see Megan at Mousy Browns down town Edmonton location before. I love her decisions so I just nodded my head to her suggestions with the choice of color and cut.

There's a number of things that make a trip to see her therapeutic:

1) I rarely talk about myself, after all my job is to find out what your body is trying to tell you, but here's a captive audience who cares enough about to remember what my work, hobbies and interests are even after two months.

The Cure is U

Kind of cool video. Here's a short selection of the movie.

Body Talk is founded on something similar, though I find it closer to the Yoga philosophies. We don't know what's bothering us. Yoga takes care of this problem using discipline and a series of techniques for us to start with to guide us toward our higher selves. Once we have this "bird's eye view" on our problems we can get a handle on what's been going on in our bodies via our beliefs and by what comes into conflict with those beliefs.

10 Tips to Find the Right Practitioner for you

Because I have tried many different therapies, people often ask me how to find a "good practitioner" for whatever sought after treatment. As a practitioner myself, I do my best to make sure I keep up to date, seek treatment regularly, do fantastic work for my niche (families), talk to people, give public presentations and make house calls. Before I book an appointment with someone I have a few guidelines to share from a client stand point.

1. Referral from a trusted friend who has worked with that person before.

A Sporting Good Store by any other name...

Seriously what would you buy at Giant Nerd? Or Poler Stuff? Or Atmosphere?

Giant Nerd Logo
Giant Nerd I'd expect to buy my chemistry kits and perhaps Giant microbes, but not bikes or snowboards. Many of my WoW friends were duped by the title as well, so I am not alone! I mean look at the logo, does anything about this say I'm a hard core outdoors person who writes gear reviews to be shared with friends? Apparently, they are nerdy because they are into Social Shopping and very technical people.

Poler Logo
At Poler Stuff I'd look for 7" stilettos and booty shorts but not sporting goods.

Projects and Purpose

I have a number of projects in various stages all over everywhere. I recently  was published in an anthology, FINALLY sent to printers a booklet that I'd written, found a way to help people that doesn't create conflict within myself,  met someone to film my lotions workshop and got myself involved in some creative fundraising. Successful month I'd say to cap off a year of learning and growth. The most successful thing is I finally got my answer as to why all or any of this matters.

If you follow the blog you know I volunteer at RMHC (Ronald Mc Donald House of Canada Northern Alberta Chapter) Working with parents, siblings, aunts and even the sick kiddos themselves I've definitely found what I want to do with the rest of my life.

Barefoot College Bunker Roy

I watched this video and was instantly inspired that a man who could pretty much write his own ticket to anywhere chose to stay close to home to help those less unfortunate dig wells. India suffers huge amounts of "brain drain" as people get their education and leave the country for most commonly the UK, Canada and the US. Not only did he help them dig wells, he set up a program to help educate them as well giving them useful skills to help improve their lives in India and around the world.
